The ISO15926 Standard

This page exists to describe what the ISO15926 standard is; what it comprises and how its parts are organized and related.

If you are a completely new to ISO15926 or simply want to know why you should care what ISO15926 is about from a business perspective, it is highly recommended that you start with the IDS-ADI ISO15926 Primer.

ISO15926 has evolved since its inception in 1999 and currently consists of 9 parts. This page is organized as follows :-

• Introduction - Part 1 and an overview of the scope and purpose of ISO15926
• Parts 2, 3, 4 & 7 - the main normative content of the standard, that is those parts that primarily define requirements to be complied with. The core reference model, the core model extension for shape and geometry, reference data, and templates
• Parts 8 & 9 - those parts that define a standard implementation using OWL/RDF and Facade technologies.
• Parts 5 & 6 - those parts concerned with the ongoing quality and adminstration of industry reference data.
• IDS-ADI Compliance Specification - not (yet) a part of ISO15926, but reflecting industrial concensus on what compliance with ISO15926 entails.
