Drillpipe Inspection Report

Scope

To identify a relevant set of ontology related to the inspection of drillpipe tubular, as implemented in reporting schema's used by international inspection companies.

Drillpipe inspection is part of the drilling process asset management. Drillpipe are circulated in a supply chain management process, where the drillpipe regularly are sent onshore to inspection. An inspection-report is issued by the inspecting company, and the report is a significant piece of information related to the life-cycle of a drillpipe.

overview

Inspection standards used globally:

  • Drill Stem Design and Inspection - DS-1 (TH Hill Associates)
  • American Petroleum Institute - API
  • NS2 Drill String Inspection Standard - NS2 (Fearnley Procter)

Inspection companies:

  • Tuboscope
  • Incon

The Drillpipe Inspection Reporting project will initially try to capture one of the three global inspection standards relevant to the major inspection on NCS, the NS2 standard. Both Tuboscope and Incon are using this standard, and we will try to accommodate for both reports, assuming that the ontology will be more or less common between the two reporting schemas.
