Drill Pipe Inspection Report

Scope

To identify a relevant set of ontology related to the inspection of drill pipe tubular, as implemented in reporting schema's used by international inspection companies.

Drill pipe inspection is part of the drilling process asset management. Drill pipe are circulated in a supply chain management process, where the drill pipe regularly are sent onshore to inspection. An inspection report is issued by the inspecting company, and the report is a significant piece of information related to the life-cycle of a drill pipe.

Inspection standards used globally:

  • Drill Stem Design and Inspection - DS-1 (TH Hill Associates)
  • American Petroleum Institute - API
  • NS2 Drill String Inspection Standard - NS2 (Fearnley Procter)

Inspection companies:

  • Tuboscope
  • Incon

The Drill Pipe Inspection Reporting project will initially try to capture one of the three global inspection standards relevant to the major inspection on NCS, the NS2 standard. Both Tuboscope and Incon are using this standard, and we will try to accommodate for both reports, assuming that the ontology will be more or less common between the two reporting schema's.
