Session 3: Ontology tools
Chair: Jon Atle Gulla, Professor, NTNU
As an encouraging sign of the maturing of semantic technology, software tools for building industrial strength application are becoming available, both as commercial products and in open source form. In this session we will learn about a representative set of such tools, including ontology construction tools, systems for semantic content management, triple stores for efficient storage of semantic data, etc.

Session 4: Information quality
Chair: Tor Arne Irgens, Commander Senior Grade, The Norwegian Defence
Quality methods for semantic success:
- More than 1 million organizations use ISO9000 to address quality aspects of their processes
- ISO15288, supported by ISO 15289, is used to refine processes for life cycle support of systems
- ISO8000 is currently being developed to address challenges for measurable quality methods to support semantic quality
- How can ISO 15926 contribute to the emerging ISO 8000 standard?
0800- 0830 | Will ISO9000 be enough to ensure semantic quality? | Knut Andersen Det Norske Veritas |
0830-0900 | Can ISO15288/ISO15289 support the needs for semantic quality? | Erik … Saab |
0900-0930 | Expectation for measurable quality methods in the industrial information domain, utilizing open international standards, including ISO15926 and W3C | NN Selskap |
0930-1000 | The daily drilling report to the Norwegian Authorities – An exellent example of improved information quality using ISO 15926 and W3C technologies | Arnt Vegard Espeland Capgemini Jonas Stokka PSA |

1230-1330 | Lunch |
Session 6: Semantic technology for IO Generation 2
Chair: Arild Waaler, Professor, University of Oslo
Integrated Operations (IO) is rapidly evolving, and OLF foresees a future "IO Generation2" characterized by more intelligent and more automated operations than current IO, as well as much closer integration of operators, vendors and service companies. IO Generation 2 will offer rich opportunities for advanced application of semantic technology. In this session we will present early studies and pilot projects exploring those opportunities.
1330-1400 | Data integration | Daniel Oberle SAP |
1400-1430 | ISA S88/S95 for integration of operation and business as an oil and gas ontology | Johan Wilhelm Klüwer Det Norske Veritas |
