The Norwegian Continental Shelf is one of the major oil-producing regions in the world. The harsh environment has led to a strong need to automate information exchanges between onshore and offshore facilities. Integrated Operations in the High North (IOHN) is a multi-year initiative to implement this, combining the efforts of all operators in the area.

There is a physical layer, a business layer, and a technology layer. ISO 15926 is part of the data layer.
