MIMOSA and the O&M SIG
MIMOSA, OpenO&M, O&M SIG
The safe start-up, operation, and maintenance of an operating plant is often limited by a lack of early information about plant equipment and controls.
MIMOSA is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to developing and encouraging the adoption of open information standards for Operations and Maintenance. OpenO&M is an initiative of a number of members of Operations and Maintenance community with a mandate to develop interoperability standards for plant automation systems.
Together, with FIATECH and the POSC Caesar Association (PCA), they have initiated the O&M Special Interest Group (O&M SIG). They are reviewing all relevant information standards, including ISO 15926, and will use them to develop best work practices for information creation and handover.
A large bitumen upgrader, planned for startup in Canada in 2015, is part of a pilot project to develop strategies to improve information handover.
