One requirement of ISO 15926 information exchanges, is that the definitions of terminology be publicly accessible. This will allow the participants to validate terms in real time during an exchange, which will remove ambiguity and reduce costs.

Up until now this has not been possible for production work due to lack of facilities.

Fiatech and PCA are sponsoring the Joint Operational Reference Data (JORD) project to develop the infrastructure and funding to bring a public Reference Data Service (RDS) into operation.

JORD builds on several years of experience operating an RDS that supported standards development work.
